This is probably a noobish question, but I never had this problem in Flash 5 so I am completely puzzled. I am importing a JPG into Flash MX, and for some reason the graphic looks distorted. I've tried every single option and setting (or so it seems), yet nothing works. Here is an example:

AFTER IMPORT TO FLASH:

Could someone please tell me what's wrong? I have a huge project due in two days, and this is a terrible bottleneck.
TIA

Hi, try with .png format. Convert .jpg to .png format

Just recently I had the same problem. I noticed that if i resized an image in Flash the image looked distorted. The only way I have figured out to get around this is to make sure in Photoshop I have the correct size.
This was the first time this happened to me in Flash, usually sizing images is totally fine. I was in a hurry on this project so I didnt look in to much. Anyone else have this problem?
i had! itīs easily fixed by adding this little code to the 1st frame(for example):
_quality = "BEST";
hi
i have download the ORG from you and load it from HDD
and also use attach but both looks fine for me !??

Thanks for the responses guys. I re-imported the image and fiddled with the smoothing/original quality settings, and it looks fine. I did, however, have to import a much larger image and downsize it a bit for quality purposes, but now it looks right.
Are you sure it's the quality setting. I use XaraX for my graphics, which is a native PC program. PC's create bitmaps at Windows default of 96 dpi. However Macromedia, having it's origins in Mac's, has a native dpi of 72 dpi.
Importing from a PC based program at the default 96 dpi into Flash which seems to default at 72 dpi, often causes this distortion.
Check the dpi of your origin file. Check it's dimensions (in pixels).
Import it into Flash. Recheck the pixel dimensions.
Reset the pixel dimensions to the same as those of the origin.
This should correct the distortion.
Another cause could be that you're working in jpg's. Jpg's are a 'losey' file format. You are importing an image that has already had compression applied. (Losey = Compression that can't be undone). On publishing, Flash then compress this already compressed file even further! I would suggest you import as full colour PNG's into Flash, then let Flash handle the jpg compression for the first time.

are you sure my reply doesnīt work ??
thats odd!
