masking text

Is there a way to mask a block text? I know this should be really simple... and I can remember doing it at one time (i think).

I just made a block of text on one layer. Then on the layer above I placed a movie clip that would open up the text in an abstract way. I made that layer a mask. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I don't know what you mean by 'block' text, but you have to embed the font so that the masking will work...

sorry for being so unclear.... by block text i meant a paragraph.... like a block of text.


also how do you embed the font?

Phil,
I had the same problem, and here's how I solved it...
1) Select the text on the stage
2) In the properties panel, change the text type to "Static Text"

That should do it!
