whats the most funny experience you've ever had with staying up super long?

let me start it up... theres this time when i developed stuff 3 days straight (friday, saterday, sunday) with no sleep and rarely any toilet brakes. when i reached sunday 2:00 AM i got up to go to the toilet and i just lost all strength and fell to the ground... i found myself on the ground the next day (completely pissed myself on the living room floor) and my dad poking me with a long stick telling me to get up and go to school!

Thats horrible!

But I have to laugh :)

Well... That means that your physical strength is running out... A real developer should be able to work for at least seven days straight without any toilet break... So... What you need is an exercise... Go outside and start running like a forest gump!!! :)

Whahahaha, yuk! That's freakin discusting dude! Though a bit cruel that yir dad just told you to go to school while poking you with a stick....

Don't have any experiences like that (un)fortunately...whaha...my best ridiculous story has always been the time I got my thumb between the door and the wall while I was entirely too drunk, but that's a completely different story (though I might tell if everybody goes all "ahh?ahh?" on me)

I frequently stay up for 2-day stints because we're horribly understaffed, and my funny story is that I think I have chronic fatigue syndrome yay : )

Seems I did pay enough attention during french classes after all, seeing I know fatigue is french for tired (or something like that ;))....but what's chronic fatigue syndrome?

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/cfs/

I'm 24, so if you start calling me grandpa you better be 2 years old ; )

I think it goes back to lack of physical conditioning, CB -- all this work and no excercise will bring even the mightiest to their knees! Not to mention the awful diet ^_^

CyanBlue

Um... There is no reason to move the knee if you are sitting in front of the computer whole day... Why do I need to even think about that??? :p

Sh!te, well I often behave like a 2yr old, does that count? :D

But seriously, CFS is quite a pain up in the dark spot from what I've read...you gonna go to a doctor?

Worst I had was in college during final 3D projects (which is basically working on a single thing for a couple months with little sleep). The final days approached and we all had to render our final maya projects and with a night left i was rendering in 3 separate buildings, driving between each to check the progress while finishing up work in another building (and so no one would steal my comp). I was so tired I forgot blank cds so I had to transfer to the final output to tape station in another building all my projects (>3GB) on 7 100mb zip disks from building to building so I wouldn't fail the next day. When I finally transferred the final files, I noticed that 2 scenes I had to re-render, needless to say it was a VERY long month of going to sleep at 6am and waking up a couple hours later.

CB: You're incorrigible. :b

Ruben: It was a tasteless joke -- I don't actually have CFS : ) I thought YOU of all people would pick up on that ; ) And you can call me grandpa Pete if it really makes you feel good : )

Neil: Ack, that reminds me of my days at fullsail...but worse : (

Incorrigible : impossible to correct or reform, very difficult to control or keep in order, somebody or something that is impossible or very difficult to change
Hm... New word... It describes me so well... :D

I made a quick screen-rip script for m-w's word of the day. all it does is grab the word at this point, but it could be turned into a full little flash word of the day app in short order ; )

<?php
$file = fopen ("http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/mwwod.pl", "r");
while (!feof ($file)) {
$line = fgets ($file, 1024);
if (strstr($line, "audio.gif")==true) list($word) = explode("</b>", $line);
}
fclose($file);
echo $word;
?>
