General thanks!!

I just wanted to say thank you to all that have helped me in the past. I try to help people as much as I can here but I am more of a student then anything else. I make really good sites for a living and have been involved with flash for many years. I put off keeping up with Flash’s capabilities because I went the straight animation rout, but now find myself right back in the developers chair knowing everything about its capabilities but nothing about the execution.

I actually turned down a rather large job as a Creative Developer, even though I understand how flash, php, and Xml work, I have no idea how to use them together. In fact the term Creative Developer is something that has been developed in the past 4 years after the industry tanked to combine two roles into one and spend less money. Don’t get me wrong its a great job but I still think you need two people for it.

Any way I digress, the point to this post is to introduce myself formally because I have a feeling many of you will be answering many of my questions and I want to extend my thanks to you and also my hand in helping any way that I can. I am a very bright person and was making collision detection in flash 2 using telltargets alone, however reading code, I might as well be reading German. I am learning and spending as much time possible training myself in the art of action scripting.

Any way, thanks again.

Well!

General welcome! : D

As far as being a student, anybody who thinks there isn't is either dead or wrong ; )

Being a 'Creative Developer' myself, I agree wholeheartedly: you need two people! :b

Here's to learning and creating ^_^

probably one of the coolest things I have created, real nice guys too.

I really missed the band wagon, between flash 3 and 5 they went leaps and bounds to what the program is capable of doing. I don’t think I will ever be able to just pull code out of my butt, however I am working towards making clean scripts for basic actions.

OOhh!! I wanted that job, great company, great pay, I really believed in what they were developing... it was the first time I had to take a step back and say, "I cant do this". I come from the practice of "yes I can" then cram later to figure it out.

it would have been to large of a learning curve. and the topic of whether or not a designer can code, and a developer can design goes way beyond simple forum chat :) my bad for even planting the seed :)

Thanks for the props, and I might just have to take you up on that.

Man, I used to work in the post industry, I would have loved to worked on some music videos -- especially for bands I enjoy ^^

Too bad about the job. If it was anything like my current job, though, you just saved yourself stomach-pains, bags underneath your eyes, 5o'clock shadow 24 hours a day, and an early grave : )

Seeing how you're hard-working, talented, and of a similar mindset to me: if you're ever in a pinch you can even IM me -- I'm up at strange hours, but if I'm available I might just be able to push you in the right direction or provide a quick resource. I'm no senocular, but I'm relatively on top of the bleeding edge macromedia happening's ^^

I appreciate that, and that goes for you as well. You’d be surprised to the amount of useless knowledge I have. IF you need any help with anything let me know. My skill base is design, illustration, motion graphics, directing, editing, and general announce to my lady friend :)

that business with the loader already helped me immensely, thank you.
