I've got an as[org] search plugin I wrote for firefox and I thought I'd share in case anyone else would find it useful. Been meaning to post it for a while but you know how that goes. This version was only tested in WindowsXP Pro, firefox 1.0 and does not have sidebar support. I'll have a more complete version (including an installer) when things settle down at work and my personal site goes live. Until then, this should suffice. to install, just unzip and drop the two files into your C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins folder.
If any of the site owners or mods would rather this not be up here (it includes the site's favicon.ico in png format), I won't get offended if you remove the zip. But I doubt it would be an issue.
For those that don't know what this does, it allows you to search actionscript.org from your (mozilla based) browsers toolbar. Kinda like google/msn/yahoo search bars for IE except you can make them for most any search engine. I attahed a picture below to illustrate this.
Let me know if there are problems and... Use at your own risk ;)

Kool!!! Thanks, splict... :)
I made a projector that does searching and checking who's online long long time ago, and Jesse told me to stop it... :p I am sure he's okay with that plugin though... It won't cost too much bandwidth with it... :)

glad you all can use it. :)
a tut's not a bad idea, faffy. Its pretty easy and there are a couple out there, but I could probably add a little something. Gotta wait till I have a few free minutes, though. :(
I bet that sucked up the bandwidth pretty good, CyanBlue! ;) I agree this shouldn't add any bandwidth. Maybe it'll get people to search a bit more, though *crosses fingers* :p Of course, if it had sidebar support, then it might slightly cut down on the number of ads that are served, so I'd have to think about that one...

I don't think you'd need a tutorial for it (doesn't mean you don't have to make one though :p) I installed it in less than a minute and it worked fine :D very cool...
I don't know why it would suck up bandwidth, wouldn't it be just the same as going to the search page on AS[org]?? It's pretty much just a shortcut, ain't it?? Could be wrong though, I'm not such a genious when it comes to all this server stuff

Yeah... The main reason why mine took the bandwidth was because I was parsing the Who's Online page every other minute or so... That sure will make difference if there are thousand people using it at the same time... Hm... Come to think of it, I should use that just to make the site go away if I don't like the site??? :D
I love to see people searching more and more, but I doubt that there are many people actually using the FireFox... No offence, but if you have no idea how to search, they'd probably use IE... Of course, the people who are too lazy to search the forum won't bother to download and install FireFox... :D

Yeah, I like the search plugin that splict made, but I don't use FireFox that often. Firefox just doesn't seem all that good to me, I mean, I like the security features and all, but my firewall is so good, it kinda makes the security features on firefox pointless. I've never had a problem with IE while running my firewall, in fact, the last time I ever saw a pop-up was about 2 years ago (not exaggerating), and I don't even have any special toolbars or separate pop-up blocking software, the only thing I have protecting my computer while on the internet is NIS 2005, and I've never had a problem :D
I still do use the search on AS[org] as often as I can though. Especially recently, I've been getting really into the hardcore coding, so the search definitly comes in handy :D

The advantages of firefox go far beyond those of security :b Hopefully splict's great contribution will convert you ; )
