Is Flash single- or multi-threaded?

This is a general question for scripting in Actionscript, but can Flash or the Flash Player handle multi-threaded processes?

I may not be qualified to handle this one, but I don't believe Flash is multi-threaded. It handles all script frame-by-frame, level-by-level.
