Hi all,

hello, im new to the forums and i hope someone here can help me :D I wanted to make a little application that streams various media to the flash player on a sony clie. They use flash version 5.5. Now, I can make a nice streamer using components in MX2004, and they work great in flash player 7, but in player 5 i just see the word 'player'. I assume that the mediaPlayback component is not flash 5 compatable... Is there any other way I could stream video (in .flv..) or audio to a flash 5 player? I know just about nothing about action script, but I've got my flash book in front of me and I am already reading :D

Any help is very much appreciated!
Evan

PS: here is my working streamer...

yeah mate, course ya can :P essentially, you can only work with .mp3 and .wav sound files and .mpg vid files. as far as streaming is concerned, just link it as an external sound file. there's a bunch of tutorials on that in the tutorial section but i recommend you look at www.flashkit.com/tutorials just search there for a sound tutorial there will be one that tells you EVERYTHING about sound. as far as video, i'm not to up to date on that but i'm sure there's a few tutorials on it mate.

if it comes to video you can convert video files to swf format

yeah but you still need quicktime to play them. you're not really truly converting them. in all reality it's rather pointless. just get them into .mpg or maybe .mov format. then search in help or in a tutorial page for how to stream in video. it can be done.

you don't need a quicktime
