Before I start, I swear I don't work for these guys....lol
Laszlo Presentation Server (http://www.laszlosystems.com/)
I was wondering if any flash application/interface/website designers and,or developers had come across of heard about this. It's a great idea and was just wondering about the possibilities of this being ported to a php component or a maybe (:fiii: ) an apache module, since it's opensource and released under the Common Public License . It uses java as it's backend at the moment, but i figure php could be used as the "interpreter" for the LZX applications. Here's a quick overview of what I'm babbling about:
Laszlo is the premier open source platform for the development and delivery of rich Internet applications on the World Wide Web.
Laszlo-powered applications provide a dramatically improved online user experience with advanced interfaces delivered on a single Web page. By bringing true application behavior to the Web, Laszlo makes a new generation of online commerce, communications and content services viable for the first time.
Laszlo applications are written in LZX, a standards-driven XML and JavaScript description language that enables a declarative, text-based development process. LZX supports rapid prototyping, collaborative software development and long term code maintenance.
Laszlo applications are deployed via the Laszlo Presentation Server (LPS), which executes within any leading commercial or open source J2EE application server or Java Servlet Container. Laszlo's standards-based architecture delivers exceptional reliability and scalability, proven in deployments serving millions of users to date.
In another words, using the SWF format and some kickass actionscript and lots off precompiled components, they managed to create a dynamic RIA environment(along with a new sort of D-XHTML that can be viewed on 97% of all web-enabled devices, is standards and crossbrowser compatible, able to be scripted by javascript and additional actionscript and of course since it's xml-based, it completely extensible.
