Hi!

Im why is it so that some font is displayed differently in a static and dynamic textfield?

Im using Lucida Grande in dynamic textfield, 10 pt, font embedded of course and alias text,
after publishing it looks different than the same thing in static textfield.
Spaces between letters are all wrong...

check the attached file(if you have lucida grande)

now if I turn it off on both, they look similar, but I need that text to be crisp!
Is there any way to fix this problem?

has it something to do with textfiled or textformat properties?

Hi Man,

The problem is that Flash will smooth fonts out automatically.

Unless you specificly have to use Lucida, I would suggest you use a pixel font specially created for Flash such as:

http://www.fontsforflash.com/ and go to the freebies section.

As it seems this font doesnt supprt the antialias beeing off.

I dont hve that font so couldnt see the result, but tried changing it to Verdana in your example and it worked fine.. so it seems to be a Lucida issue rather than a flash issue.

I know that the static text displays correctly and therefore it doesnt make sense.. - also try moving the textbox around to decimal pixel as in : 15.1 etc.. the blurriness sometime goes away this way.

Yes this is probably also an issue. What I have noticed in Flash is that all fonts need to be on exact pixels - the kerning , the leading etc.. also.

Another iportant thing I discovered the hard way is that if a font is used in a Movie Clip - that movieclip also needs to be on an exact pixel.

this is a tut that covers using fonts in Flash:

Well as a matter of fact you are hard to understand - and very ungrateful I may add.

I stop wasting my time here with you.

Good day
