there is no such thing as far as I am aware.
I think you are thinking of Director. In flash they are called Instances.

Lemme guess ... you've been working with Director, and you discoverd that Flash is preferd for simple tween animations like rotation and zooming. So you heard about sprites. Basically a sprite is a 2-dimensional graphic which may or may not include animation. In flash everything is 2-D so everything thats saved in a movieclip or graphic is a sprite. (It would be so much handier if Macromedia would be consistant in their naming and so (they also talk about BeginTellTarget and EndTellTarget in Director, while we Flashers use TellTarget { and } or preferably not at all ...) We just call sprites MC's or graphics.

Hey thanks to both of you, since your commments entirely answer my question.
I see where I got confused, the fact of hte matter is that I'm now doing my best to work with both Flash & Director, I discover how importing flash movies as cast members gives me a very cool power for animations!
Any comments you guys have on this subject would greatly be appreciated.

you can make your flash buttons work in director as well....I cant quite remember but I think in flash you use the get url command and in the box where you put the url you put the directoir action...
something like that anyway...

The basic rule is : whatever u CAN do in Flash ... do it in Flash. The rest is for Director ... but is actually dependant of what u want to do ... And for what medium ? (internet ? CD/DVD ? TV ?) Makes quite a difference. Also, what look are u going for ?

My main objective is to develop CD business card presentations with as much impact as possible, and now that I'm getting the feel of director aswell I'm cought between two very powerful technologies, so I guess I'de like to make use of both combined.
The look I'm going for as you may imagine, is a very professional and dynamic UI. So I'm thinking to myself, should I just stay with Flash nad its quick and lean projector?
Also Can u please describe your proccess for the design of your interface (BG and stuff..), what program do you use, I have become very fund of Fireworks, is there anything I'm missing out?
Thanx again!

depends ... I like my 3D programs. Ofcourse for presentations they are just "extra". I've never worked with it myself, but I heard Adobe After Effects are helpful too for presentations with certain transition effects etc. Handy for CD content. And fireworks ? Isn't that sorta like a dreamweaver/photoshop thingie ?
