Is it possible to import an image with an alpha channel? If so how would I do it?....png?

PNG is the only image format that will import into Flash with an Alpha channel. Use File | Import.

On further thought, it occurs to me that Flash, as of version 6, may now be able to utilize the alpha channel of a PSD file. But still, use File | Import

What's wrong with a cross post? I figured that the actionscript 2.o forum was the wrong place to post this question.

I'm just trying to find out if this is possible...

It worked as a photoshop doc, but it imported via quicktime. thanks you so much!!!!!

yes it is....save an image as a .png file format, non-interlaced.

Note: Fireworks works beautifully for this, Photoshop doesn't...but there may be some workaround I don't know about..
