HI,

I'm trying to create a game using Flash MX 2004. I have created the main background for the game using Adobe Illustrator. I brought it into flash as a gif. The intro for the game is the scene scrolling from one side of the screen to another so I created a motion tween and moved it this way. It works fine when I play it back from within Flash, however, when I publish it the background doesn't come into view until 50 frames into the animation and then finishes early too. I've tried to think what is causing this. I thought it could be because it needs to be loaded into the movie first, but I'm not sure how to do as the only pieces of code to do this seem to be for loading in other movies. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

rushin,

I have gotten the best results importing artwork from Illustrator by exporting the Illustrator art as a .swf file. In Flash, import the .swf to the Library as a Movie Clip or Graphic, then go inside the new Library item and ungroup or break apart the shapes. You will now have a vector object which should load much faster than a raster file like a GIF.

A few tips: As you ungroup or break apart the shapes in the imported .swf, some shapes, some of those shapes may need to be put on new layers to maintain the integrity of the artwork. Also, blends & Gradients are best created inside Flash. Flash converts these objects to raster when imported from Illustrator.
