this is my first site...
i spent 45 hours on it, and will probably spend a further 20 hours.
the client accepted, but I wouldn't have a clue how to price it...
any idea??
thanks

Well its not really far to ask that sort of question in a developers forum. I mean, we all do these type of things all day, and each have different styles, and all accept nothing but THE best. So everyone here is going to give you a different opinion.
But, to get to the point. I would spend a lot more time on this and make it a bit more "crisp". It just looks like it has only been worked on for 45 minutes ya know? Its a very good layout, just needs some eye candy, and something to seperate things.
As a rule, I usually charge $75/hour for Flash Design, but sometimes I jsut quote the client a flat fee.

How much you charge depends much on what arrangements were discussed before hand. Also depends on how much time you put in to it. You say you already put 45 hours into it and plan on putting in another 20. I am not sure what it is woth to you but this is probably a learning experience, so that may account for some of the hours you've put in.
When everything is said and done I think the $1000-$2000 range depending on how much you improve upon the site. I know some of the site is incomplete, but the only thing that I found to be really lacking is the swish intro - seems effortless. Other than that I think it is very sharp for a first site.
Best.

hi
like the site - welldone.
difficult question, guess it depends on how much you need and how much your client has!

Why would you do work before figuring out what the cost is? Even though money is sometimes a very painful thing to go over with clients everybody will leave much happier if they know what they're getting and what they're paying.
As for rates...depends on so much i'd be afraid to say. Web consultantcy can run between $25 - 300 an hour. Where do you honestly think you fall in terms of effectiveness, ability and desperation?
