Oh ya! I passed the exam today! I am now an offical Macromedia Flash certified developer! That feels good! :D
The exam was actually easier than what I expected primarily because it focused on testing my Flash programming abilities instead of testing how well I can memorize all those stupid syntaxes!
One other interesting experience is that I actually find Macromedia's official study guide very helpful while many people tend to think that the book is completely useless....
Anyway! I passed! :) :) :)

Hope you can find some good use of it... So far, the best use for me is to put that title in my signature... Other than that... Um... I don't know why I have that... :(

We need a larger certified community, what are you other gurus waiting for !!!??I also got certified the other day (developer that is, passed the designer exam some time ago). But I do not see the point in having more certified people in the community. Knowledge has nothing to do with certification. There are heaps of people outthere who know a lot more stuff then I do and are not certified.
My reason for getting certfied? I'm moving to Australia this year, from the Netherlands that is, and I hope this gives me an edge when looking for a job as an ActionScript developer, being a foreigner and all.
Knowledge has nothing to do with certification.
heh ain't that the truth... my neighbors kid is a professional sailor (makes 6 figures doing it). he sailed in the americas cup a few years back.... anyway he just came back from hawaii, and told me they wouldnt rent him a sailboat because he wasn't certified by the asa (american sailors association??).
go figure.
another thing to keep in mind is that certification has little to do with knowledge. experience makes all the difference.

I agree that certification does not equal to "you are an experienced excellent Flash ActionScript 2.0 programmer." The certified exame, according to my experience, has not much to test if you are a good ActionScript programmer at all (for example, programming concepts and logic abilities). Instead, it is all about how good you are with Flash and ActionScript and how well you are ready to work on real world projects in Flash.
The certificate is certainly not the only thing that you can judge the ability of a Flash developer, but it is certainly one more proof that this guy is already more than a standard Flash developer with an up-to-date Flash knowledge (for example.. I know someone still get stuck with ActionScript 1.0).
After all, the certified exam isn't an easy one... you gotta know Flash & ActionScript 2.0 to pass this exam. As for how well you can apply these knowledge.... mmm....
