I want to use some pixelated images within Flash, and not have that aliased edge that flash applies. ive seen it done well on sites like www.wefail.com, does anyone know how to do this?

bitmaps wont be smoothed if you main timeline is greater than 1 frame as well. wefall uses low quality. It also helps with performance when dealing with bitmaps

so would you use PNG or transparent GIF? incidently, do you know what the difference between PNG 8 & PNG 24 is?

PNG 24 supports more colors. I would use a PNG over gif.

If you cut and paste your PNG from Fireworks to Flash you can set the edge to hard instead of feather or anti-alias. Does that work for you? (cool flash piece ... www.wefail.com ... its out there!)

go to the library, choose your png file, go to the properties, remove smoothing.
Sharp images can also be done in Flash by vector graphics. In this case all the elements of your picture must be "snapped to pixels".
