I think foed sucks! Non of their books explain why things happen, they just a bunch of over-priced, "designer-ed" shiny books that do nothing other than give you a few examples. Much better off with google.

{Friends of Ed Books} I think for newbies (hi, how you doing?), Foundation Macromedia Flash MX got my head around Flash MX the the fastest. When I invested in MX 2004, Foundation ActionScript... (ISBN: 1590593057) by Sham has been the first book out of .. it, (AS2.0) Training from the Source, and lynda.com's "Beyond the Basics" that didn't make me think I was NEVER going to learn AS.
Of course I am only up to Chapter 7 and am just starting Objects and Classes so I may just be fooling myself.
While Hands-On-Training (lynda.com) was also a good start, the next book, Beyond the Basics scared me off once I got to LoadVars.
So to answer the original question : Flash MX 2004 Beyond the Basics Hands on Training (ISBN: 0321228537) may be a good bet! HTH

Consider yourself lucky.
