don't knw who that is, but I suppose we should feel glad that whoever is doing it is sending emails, and not hacking the actual site, like what happens to bit-101 almost every week. (Poor bit-101, been through alot this year :()

The mail headers are forged my friends. Check them and you will see it's coming from some unrelated IP. We don't have an outgoing SMTP server expressly to prevent ppl sending stuff from our URL.
I'm amazed at how relevant spam and viruses are getting now. I get so many emails about Macromedia products. The spiders must be categorizing email addresses now. Sucks but you gotta give them some credit for it :(

Jesse I'm sure you know, but there are JS encyrptors out there that only encypt your email addy and not the whole page. Suposibly the bots can read it then. Here is one I use: http://www.jracademy.com/~jtucek/email/download.php

you could put the email address in a swf and place that in your sig...hard for an automated program like a spider to read text in an swf :D
And Jesse's right...I could make a php script which would change the sender to "jesse At actionScript dot org" << put it together, don't want a spider to get his address :) Though I'd see no point in doing that, as it would be really mean.

I could make a php script
you can also do it with telnet
Damned spiders, who's got the RAID!?

Just looking at your rather bizzare, not to mention dictatorial, footer. And isn't the point, quoted below, disallowed. It's multiple posting - that's deleted by moderators.
A person may post the same thread in multiple forums except
when such action would conflict with the First Law

Read closer fellas, everyone seems to skip right over this...
First Law:
A person may not title a post with the words "urgent", "immediately", or anything similar, or through their own actions, post in a forum which does not match the category of their question
Part of second law:
except when such action would conflict with the First Law
Just worded it "backwards" :p

I knew you were going to say that.
But that does not mean that cross-posting is mutually exlusive, as there are circumstances where one problem can fall into more than one forum.
Hence, your list not "working backwards".

On my Gmail account which I've had for about 6 months now, no viruses, not even 1 piece of spam. Every single email I've gotten through Gmail is something I was expecting :D Hooray for Gmail!! :cool:

Wow, pretty good ! I spend like 10% of my mailbox time just throwing out spam, which strangely consists primarily of multi-million dollar deals and discount offers for software.
"Really, so you're from some country I've never heard of and have millions to give away and want to give them, for no apparant reason, to me. Meanwhile, you're some_name@some_other_country_than_you_just_mention ed.something or whatever@one_of_them_free_webmails.something . Wow, makes perfect sense."
:rolleyes:
And the fake eBay mails ... "we lost your account info and your creditcard details. Please login and fill them in again." What do you mean, again ? I didn't fill them out in the first place ! :mad:

lol,
Don't use eBay either. If I do ever have to sign up for something where
I might get spam but I need to do it (like get a confirmation email
from a website that requires logging in to download, like
http://www.surclaro.com, I'll just use my AOL account. I figure if
I get a virus, no biggie...AOL sucks anyways. I tried customizing the
AOL mail filter to filter out email that have a certain word in the
senders email, but it didn't do crap. I must get 10-15 emails a week
from ??????@vm-mail.com << whatever the hell that is :rolleyes:,
so I went to AOL and told it to permanantly delete any email that
contains the word "vm-mail" immediately after I receive it...3 weeks
later...50 emails from ??????@vm-mail.com...so much for "AOL with spam
blocker" :mad:
I still have fun with it though...challenging myself to see how fast I
can delete the vm-mail.com addresses...currently, 3 seconds for 8
emails :D

That's rediculous...you should use multiple email address, I have thousands at my disposal so when I register for a site that I'm not sure about and I get spam, I delete the email address...and make another one.
Plus I also find it fun hacking into the servers at the IP's where these emails are being sent from :p. There was one time where I bounced 6million sendmails on the server and overloaded both it and mine...heh.

hehe...here's a PHP script to do the job :p
$Message = "";
for($i=0; $i<10000; $i++){
$Message += "Nothing here but a bunch of crap...how do you like it??\n";
}
for($i=0; $i<500; $i++){
mail("winfreecash@freestuff.com", "IRS screw-up, they owe you 1 million dollars", $Message, "From: president@theIRS.org");
}
tehehe, would be funnier if emails like that didn't actually get sent :rolleyes:
