Bitmap to Flash?

I just got flash MX 2004 yesterday and I was wonderin' how to Import a bitmap and still be able to change some of the colours with the fill tool. In my particular case I was trying to import a shape and not have the white square around it. If there is a program I can use can you please give me an url? (It has to be freeware because I spent this month's money on flash :9)

ok this doesn't seem to work: i can't find the specified folder in the readme file. Is there any much more straight forward method of converting the images?

In flash...
Modify > Bitmap > trace bitmap

Crude, but it does ok

No idea why cota pointed you to img2swf .. that is for a completely different purpose

I was working under the assumption he wanted to do it dynamically, not during authoring.

well although it would be easier to change it dynamically i would rather have it traced over in flash, thanks for your help sleekdigital and cota :) :)
