Do you like when music is played from a website?

Hi ya,

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I would like to know if you like it when websites play music when you enter them (without clicking on anything to cue it) or do you find this annoying.

I voted for depends on site. For instance, I wouldn't want music playing while I'm trying to figure out some code here at actionscript. There is no clear line in my head as to which sites can play music and which can't, its the kind of music. Hotel's get certain types elevator music to make you feel comfortable and occupied. When you go to a beach resort, you'll hear some Bob Marley. I usually enjoy music when I'm on the a site. I'm not sure what my awnser is now...grrr...now I know why you have this poll :p

I absolutely hate the website which plays music without asking me... The user has to have control over that... :(

I like when music plays, but only if the site deserves to have music and it makes sense to have music there....it also has to match the theme of the site. The following site is a site that deserves to have music on it:

I personally like music in a site, its adds another deminsion to the site, but I have to be able to turn it off if I want to. But thats just me...

I hate it for web sites unless:
A) Im watching an animation where audio is expected (though thats not really a 'site')
or
B) Its for a band and Im previewing songs - but ONLY when I click on preview and I click on play, not playing songs as soon as the site loads - my control

I only like music when i am on a porn site.

Like tg, i always have music playing nearly all the time, work, play, whatever, always have the speakers on.

Else I think it's a good thing cause music is a part of the website

I only like it if:
1. It's some ambient sound (no beats and melody) that match with the site
2. It's intro
3. Band site

And I like it when the STOP THE SOUND button is big :p

Really depends on the site, like chatrooms and any user to user interaction I don't care, but anything else I'm with curly brace on that, it just better have a stop button heh.

i gotta agree with senocular.... only if i turn the music on.


the user should be the person controlling the user experience.... i don't think any designer/programmer should take any kind of control of your computer for any reason. it is after all my computer.
