If your in a corporate office like myself it's best to wait till you get home to view.

It is just a lady in a bikini though, guess it matters if people can see your monitor from a hallway or not.

I see many people double post, triple post :D recently. Maybe it's a forum error ?

I don't know if it is really important who's post is merged to whoes, but my concern goes more to how I can keep this as clean as possible, hence I merged everything to one post which gets displayed in the order of the post time not which one goes first and whatnot...

pixelwit

...If you check the original post time, Pixelwit's should of been merged to mine, not mine to Pixelwit's...

Who's done this? CyanBlue? Next time check posting times! :rolleyes:I didn't merge these threads but... as a moderator of the site, I wasn't aware of the "Whoever posts first gets 'top of the merge' policy". Whenever I merge threads I try to do it in the best way possible for the forum. Sometimes I do it chronologically sometimes I don't. Sometimes I'll need to merge threads from different forums and I usually merge the one in the ~wrong~ forum to the one in the ~right~ forum. This of course is a subjective decision but one that's ~usually~ easy to make. Most of the time I pick the right forum, sometimes I don't. But it's my decision to make. If enough people get upset it's pretty easy to move the thread to wherever "the people" feel it's best suited.

So now CyanBlue has one guy upset with his decision (OldNewbie) and one who kind of likes it (I'll let you guess who ;)) so for him it's all evened out. Besides, I'm pretty sure you can petition The CB with PMs. :DAnd why did you pull it out of General Chat? I didn't even know this forum existed... Now no other users will see it! Bad move! :eek:Granted, General Chat is a fine place for a thread of this nature but so is the Widgets forum. The Widgets forum however was set up for SWF files such as this one whereas General Chat is more for 'stuff that doesn't fit in within other forums'. We don't post FlashMX04 threads in the FlashMX or General Chat forums do we? ;)

As far as nobody seeing this thread, it currently has 250 views which is fairly comparable to a rather active thread in the General Chat forum. Not too shabby.

It doesn't matter a whole lot to me, I just thought this was the right place to share a nice file with the community.

There is no such policy, pixelwit... As far as I can tell, that's automatic... If I merge two threads one dated 01/01 and another one dated 01/02, the post gets displayed in the order of the post time... Maybe there is some setting that I am missing???

One thing I am not clear about...
Are you mad, oldnewbie, because I merged your posts or because I merged your post with pixelwits???

I don't really understand what the deal here is... I thought that we are here to speard the information/knowledge... What difference does it make where the thread is??? Enlighten me... :(

I disagree with the fact that these threads were merged into Pixelwit's thread...

If you check the original post time, Pixelwit's should of been merged to mine, not mine to Pixelwit's...To me, this seems like you're fully agreeable to the threads being merged, as long as they're merged into "your" thread. However once that doesn't happen you state that it's more important for the link to be seen than it is to be properly categorized. Hopefully I can help in that aspect as well.

As noted this thread had 250 views earlier. These views didn't ALL come from the time OldNewbie's thread was in the General Chat forum. Since the time I first posted this thread in the (highly controversial) Widgets section I've been keeping an eye on it to see how many people checked it out. Unfortunately I don't recall the exact numbers but I do recall this thread was doing quite well all on its own.

Sometime near the time I posted the fact that this thread had 250 views, OldNewbie posted a thread in the General Chat forum with no other content than a link to this thread. I feel it's safe to assume every person who viewed that thread in General Chat clicked the link to this thread to see what was going on in Widgets. The thread in General Chat now has 35 views while this thread in Widgets has 335 views. If we subtract the views we suspect came from General Chat (35) that leaves us with 300 which is 50 views more than this thread had previously. That means a thread in the General Chat forum received less views than a thread in the Widgets forum in the same given amount of time. Although not scientifically conclusive, I think it would be safe to say that this thread is getting as many if not more views in the Widgets section than it would have in the General Chat forum.

Anyways it was ridiculous of me to think I'd ever have the last word over a moderator's... Even more so when dealing with 2 of them!Moderators don't have the last word, Administrators do. I don't want to bother Strok or Jesse with a problem of this caliber but you have the option to do so if you wish. I don't know if you think we 'have it in for you' or what but I'm sensing a bit of hostility which I don't think either CyanBlue or I deserve. I know I've personally tried helping you out in the past but as soon as I do something you slightly dislike you seem to throw me into the "All Moderators are Evil" pile. Well, such is life.

It seems as if Bit-101 (http://www.bit-101.com/blog/archives/000163.html) has located the person who created this file and his name is Pekka Sandborg (http://www.pekkasandborg.com/portfolio/). At Pekkas site you can find a link to this site (http://www.gpgstudy.com/gpgiki/GDC%202001%3A%20Advanced%20Character%20Physics) which explains how it all works. Apparently it's "quite easy to implement" if you're a Math wiz but I couldn't get any further than 10 paragraphs (out of about 100) before my eyes started to glaze over.

I suspect others in the AS community will soon start releasing AS code which approximates this effect so keep your eyes peeled.

I am not sure if the original swf file has been modified or something, but I just clicked on that at work, and I don't really think that was a good idea. I managed to close it down pretty quickly, but there were loads of naked bodies appearing all over the place.

If that is what the widget was supposed to do then, er, cool. I will view it from home. But I think that something could be added to the post to warn that it might not be safe for work? (nsfw).

The link has been changed. While it is still a very nice link for those lonely Friday nights, the original contents is no longer there. The site now contains pornographic images.
