form-tweening on mask-layer

i placed a symbol (containing a form-tweening) on a mask-layer but the symbol doesn't perform the tween.
putting the symbol on a normal layer works perfect.
who can help me?

yeah masks are a bit limitted in flash

if you put the shape tween directly on the mask layer in the main timeline it will work

i hate putting such effects in the main timeline
it makes it difficult to use multiple tweening-symbols...
i hava some ideas how to solve, but has anyona further ideas
