Hi all, maybe this is something that is too easy, but I wondered if there is a way to reverse timeline effects, such as making an object blur in rather than out. Any experience with this? I should note that I've already tried to edit the effect by hand by reversing each of the layers in the effect, but it didn't turn out.

G'day,
Just a observation, I noticed you said that you reversed the frames by hand (I am guessing that you probably jsut dragged each frame where you wanted them) Not many people notice it but, if you highlight the selected frames you wish to reverse and then right click to bring up the context menu 2nd from the bottom is "Reverse Frames" which keeps the animation in contact just reversed.
Anyway getting back to your question. The easiest way to achieve a blur effect in flash believe it or not is to use Photoshop. Just take a screen shot of your text in flash, load up Photoshop, crop the picture so you just have just text, add a Gaussian blur, save it in any format you like, load it back up in Flash.
Now where ever your adding this effect, create 2 layers. Added your blurred text to the bottom layer directly underneath the non-blur text in flash. Then you want to create two tweens. One for the blurred text and one for the non blurred text. We'll start with the non-blurred text, you should have a keyframe inserted in frame 1 and 10 (or however long you want to make the tween) on frame 1 have the alpha set to 0% and on frame 10 have the alpha set to 100% then tween the animation. Okay now onto the blurred text, you should also have keyframes on frame 1 and 10. This time do the reverse, on frame 1 set the blurred text's alpha to 100% and on frame 10 set the alpha to 0%, and tween the animation. And your done!!
When you play it back you should have the blurred text fading into crisp clear text. Hope it makes sense, if it doesn't let me know and I'll help you out

Actually, if you convert the effect to keyframes, then you can reverse the whole sequence and not have to use any external editors.
