View Full Version : Movie Clips on the same frame

I have 5 different MC's on the same frame in different layers. On each different MC/layer, I have buttons that are in the same position but only visible while in their particular MC.

The problem:
The buttons on layers below others are inactive as thay are in the same place as the top most layer. When pressed, the button action corrosponds to the top most layers action (the action is happening, but invisible) which does nothing for the current MC/layer.

Make sense?
Help is appreciated.

Not really!

You should attach your .fla in a MX only format, not MX2004.

You'd have a better chance of getting an answer if your .fla was in a MX only format, and zipped up.

You would have to save a copy of your MX2004 .fla, (using Save as...) and changing the Document type to MX only in the Save as... window.

Trying to upload the zip file but am having trouble connecting to the server.

Let me try to explain a better. Basically, say I have a button on one layer in a MC and another button in the same exact place in the layer below in a diffferent MC. When the button on the layer below the top layer is pressed, nothing happens because the button on the top layer is actually being pressed.

I'll keep trying to upload the file to you.

Thanks again.

How can you say you're actually clicking on the underlying buttons if the topmost button is in the exact same position and covering the underlying buttons?

It seems this is happening because the other buttons are on a layer underneath the previous MC. Is there another way I could get you the file so we could troubleshoot. I can't seem to upload it to the forum.

Maybe this will help too... when my intro is done playing, I have a blank area/stage on the right side of the site, my menu is on the left. If I move my mouse to the right side if the sight (the blank area/stage) before any menu button is pressed to fade up a MC, I can see the mouse pointer turn into the hand that recognizes a button. Even though they are not visible yet (because the MC hasn't faded up) they can still be pressed.

Thanks for the help,
Brad

maybe it's because they're in the same position on the timeline too?
