wmode problem with php

ok, this is sort of an html/php/flash wmode paramater problem. basically, when i add the wmode = "transparent" to the embed string and also as a parameter to a flash movie in my php document, a cell background shows up that doesnt belong there, and it overrides the default white background of the cell. its really weird and i dont really understand it. any insight would be really helpful. the wmode paramater is required so the javascript menu system shows up on top of the flash file.
