Hi all,
Could you please tell me what you think of my test site for my "Company". High Resolution is reccomended, please tell me EVERYTHING you don't like (or do like) about it.
It is only the test site so it will undergo heavy modification.

Sorry to DP, but I really need some responses so I can finish it and register a domain name.

Hi there, here are some comments:
- Firstly, the looping music... annoying! Either take it off, or have a 'mute' button.
- Good idea about the dragging windows, you might want to have it more obvious on the different pages that you can do this.
- Portfolio: I don't like the red colour on the blue, makes me feel ill. Also, stick some pictures on.
Other than that, looks sweet. Loads fast which is always good.
Hope comments are useful - Andy

what if you try replacing the cursor when it's over the floating windows to the 4-arrow cursor that is used in microsoft windows? personally, i think that would make it more obvious that you can move the window, rather than placing instructions on each one.
just a thought

Thank you very much for replying, very helpful. This is just one possible design for the site, I have others as well.

are you tweening the windows scale on the timeline? i would recommend using the AS2 mx.transitions Tween class (Bounce.easeOut has a similar effect to yours)
xTween = new mx.transitions.Tween(instanceName, "_xscale", mx.transitions.easing.Bounce.easeOut, 0, 100, 1, true);
yTween = new mx.transitions.Tween(instanceName, "_yscale", mx.transitions.easing.Bounce.easeOut, 0, 100, 1, true);
i'm actually doing a similar effect on something i'm working on. users click an information icon/bubble on the scene, and this square appears to come out of the bubble (so i also tweened _x and _y, i think using Regular.easeOut)

Most of it's scripted, only some is manually done. But thanks anyway.

Looks a little plain to me. You should also constrain the dragging of the boxes, and perhaps put some nice graphics in there - looks like a '12 year old Flash drawn vector site' if you see what i mean. Also, i wasn't sure how to get into the site, i would make it a little more obvious that your not sitting there waiting for something to load.
I like the transitions between sections though, thats a nice touch.
Why is the 'services' section not centered?

i noticed that if you accidentally drag out of the movie to the html background and release, when you go back to the movie, it'll still follow the cursor.
but a little bug like that being the only glitch i can find means you've got a pretty solid site. most amateurs don't centralize their code, and you end of having pages still while other ones load because that specific symbol doesn't have the hide function for the other symbol.
your site doesn't have all the extra distractions. some *points up* might think it's old fashioned, but in marketing, you respect the impact of something basic and well-defined.

Yeah, that happens to all draggable things unless you constrain them.
This isn't my actual site, it is more like a rough sketch, most of the code, graphics and animation has not been polished up (or even in there in the first place). It is just an idea not my actual working design, it took me a bit over an hour to make. I've been flashin' for a long time so this site is just some scribbles and a bit of brain storming.
Thanks for the comments! I will start another "rough idea" tonight. Whichever one I like best I will use for my final design and build it properly.
As for the Services page, I don't know, clumsy mistake. Wont be happening on my real site though

Interesting website - it CAN be made a lot better tho. Mute button is essential.
I don't think you should use black on your website. Maybe a shade of blue for the background instead. What does the bar under your website do? I think it should be removed.
Check for clashing colours - blue-red hurts to look at in some sections.
Have you tried centering the flash vertically? I find that more effective when the size of the flash file is somewhat smaller (I run a pretty high resolution). Run with the whole sky idea. Use it in some parts of the background, within the flash, etc. I think you should also have more fun with your "J" logo.

Ahh, a designer. Thank you for your comments, each comment gives me a better idea for my next test site.
mmm, I have to agree with one of the previous posters the colours do make you feel a bit strange :(

Ok, some colour choices = bad, got it.
Thanks to everyone who commented, my next test will be a lot better.
