é - turns to gibberish with loadMovieNum

Trying to get this silly é to display correctly with dynamic text loaded from a .txt file and then loaded into a main movie.

I've tried saving the txt file in Unicode and UTF-8. In its own file, it displays fine, but when I load it into the main movie with loadMovieNum, it turns into "�".

I've look thru the other posts and haven't found a solution to work for me.

Anyone have any ideas?

You only posted 6 hours ago! It irritates me beyond belief when people reply 'Anyone?' after just posting, of which many people feel compelled to do.

Try searching the forums for 'special character', or some such search.

Actually, it wasn't 6 hours, it was yesterday plus those six. And I bumped it because it was heading to the bottom of page 2.

And I did those searches. Posting for help is a last resort.
