The title really interested me when this book came out about a month back. I read some reviews over at Amazon, which seemed to be the typical love it or hate it kind, that pretty much every actionscripting book gets. I'm sure it's very good. I love the "Probably the best book ever written" quote from Brendan's Mum :)
Hi,
Admittedly I haven't finished it yet, but I think it's great. It starts off very dissapointingly (for me) by explaining what a movieclip is. At that point I was beginning to think I'd wasted my money.
Thankfully the book develops. It's nothing like a comprehensive guide (which it doesn't try to be) but it takes some key projects and develops them to a fairly advanced level, leaving the reader to develop them further. The chapter on type is excellent.
The best aspect of the book is that it gives you a good insight into Brendan Dawes working method, which is something I've rarely found in a computer or design guide.
I wouldn't necessarily say buy the book if you're particularly experienced or advanced at flash design because there's probably not a lot in there that you don't know. However because the emphasis is strongly placed on teaching working methods rather than teaching actionscript from scratch, I think it's likely to have a much longer shelf life than a lot of books whose content becomes quickly obselete.
cheers.

Yeah, thanks for the insight...I had the opportunity to ask Dawes at FF2001 about his methodology and I'd like to see what he says in the book...Quite important in my opinion when developing long term projects...
