I want to add Flash intro pages to my site.
One of my concerns is:
I have previously posted my pages with search engines.
Now if I replace the home page with the Flash intro page, I would have to put the metatags in the intro, but since there is really no text in that file, I'not sure if the search engines are going to penalize the page not listing it.

Please advise.

Many search engines now use smart bots which search the text content of pages as well as the META tags. Most still rely mainly on METAs though. Properly formatted METAs will help you out a lot, but if you're really looking fo rthe best traffic you might consider making your homepage a static page which says something like "My company offers blah blah. You need Flash to view this page, click here to enter". That way you get the best of both worlds.

I just heard some disturbing news regarding this subject, in which it is alleged that SWFs derail web crawlers completely, rendering sites with Flash virtually invisible to search engines.

Has anyone heard anything about this????
