So how do I tween text to make the color change? I have two identical keyframes of text that has been broken apart, except that the text in one keyframe is green and the text in the other is black. I set up a shape tween between the two keyframes and sure, it changes gradually from green to black. But in between, the text goes all wonky. Dunno how better to describe it.

I'm assuming I need to add shape hints somewhere, but where? I have a letter i for example -I put a shape hint on the bottom left corner of the i in both frames and it worked fine, but other letters were still tweening wrong. I added more shape hints and then ALL my letters stopped working correctly.

Is there a better way to make text change color gradually? Or alpha, even? Should I just use repeated instances of setProperty or something?

thanks in advance..

i think u can do this by turning your text into a graphic symbol and place it on ur timeline. put in a keyframe where u want your text tween to finish and add a motion tween. the choose the keyframe u want to change colour and and bring up the effects panel and use tint.

i think that'll work on text

Hi,

If you break apart text the shapes are exceedingly complicated. If you want to shape tween a word you need to put each letter on it's own layer, with it's own tween. Furthermore, the lowercase letter 'i' for example has two shapes the stem and the dot. So each of those needs it's own tween. Even with all this you may still need shape hints. As you can imagine the file size of your movie will increase a lot for such a small effect.

If you don't want to change the shape, just the colour do this:

1) Put your text on it's own layer.
2) On another layer (underneath) on keyframe 1, draw a black square
3) On keyrame 15 (or however long the tween lasts) put your green square.
4) Shape tween the layer with the squares so that the shape makes the colour transfomation you want the text to make.
5) Make sure the text layer lasts as long as the tweened layer, and that the text sits inside the squares.
6) Highlight the text layer and using the menus - modify>layer>(select mask)
7) Highlight the tween layer and -modify>layer>(select masked)
8) Test your movie

cheers.

k i just tested this way a seems the simplest to me.

1. type ur text
2. turn it into a graphic
3. keyframe frame 15 (or whatever)
4. create motion tween
5 . in effects panel use tint to get new colour

i've attached example

hope it helps
