Simple or not......?

I have a movie clip inscene 1, with a button that targets scene3 - it doesn't work? Tries all permutations but it will not load scene 3...

I assume it has to be a paths issue, but since scene 3 is at level0, I thought it would be clear cut?

Are you targeting the scene's name?
If so don't ever target a scene name in your Flash life again!

Target a labeled frame instead. Label the first (or the targeted frame...) in Scene 3 with a unique label, add _root or _level0 to your path, and only target that labeled frame...

Or as oldnewbie normally says, but has restrained himself here, DON'T USE SCENES!!

I hate scenes, but most people start off using them
because when you start it is easier than Dynamic loading
or just keyframes and MC's.
