Hi,
I have an Illustrator file, a map of Africa broken down by tribe. There are 834 paths each on their own layer. The layers are named according to the tribe they represent. I want to be able to import them into flash, to create an interactive map of sorts, and would like to retain the layer names.
What happens when I import the .ai file is that rather than becoming one graphic symbol with layers inside I have a folder with 834 clipping paths all labelled numerically. I really don't want to label them again in illustrator.
Is the problem because of the complexity of the file, do I need to prepare the illustrator file differently. I have seen what I want done successfully with a smaller file of just two or three laters but it never seems to work for me. I also tried exporting as .swf layers to files but again that creates 834 .swf files with numerical descriptors.
Any suggestions.
