Hi,

I got my hands on a 4GB beauty last night. Unless you've hidden under a rock for the past 3 months you will know that Apple have had big issues with scratching screens and breakages. In fact legal action is now officially being taken against the company.

Has anyone had similar problems? The reason i ask is because i am having problems with mine (not scratching or breaking...yet, i've only had it 24 hours), but:

1) The controls no longer work.
2) The control "wheel" is comming loose.
3) When i toggle between "hold" and nornal, only half of the screen appears when i switch it back.

It was my new and exciting toy and its already broken :(

Regards, snapple

Correction: expensive dust left in my hand :)

Well it was brought for me in California, and i live in London, but i think i am right in saying that they have an international warranty.

Definitely take it back. Apple seem to have major quality control issues with the nano. My ipod is 2 years old, and despite daily use it has almost no damage (the screen's contrast has decreased somewhat, that's it).

yes you are...
mine loses its filesystem every now and then and tends to skip the songs it doesn't like.

My friend got one a few weeks ago and the buttons barely work. He has to push very hard for the buttons to activate.

It's like any new product from a major player. It was released just to make money, even if it is know to be defective. I guess they hope people will pay for it and when it breaks forget to return it or ask for a new one.
