problems moving from mx 2004 to 8

if i open a .fla in flash 8 that was created in flash mx 2004, i can apply filters (eg blur effect) but they are not applied when i publish my movie. they work fine if i create the document from scratch in flash 8.

i'm sure there must be some compatability problem, just can't work it out.

any suggestions would be a great help.

Are you sure your publishing it as a Flash 8 document and using Actionscript 2.0? It might be that importing a FMX 2004 fla automatically changes the publish settings to FMX 2004.

file > publish settings
