Worst site- Too many to name. God only knows there are about a million bad ones.

Best experience - not sure yet. There are a few good ones. I like the 24-7 media experience, Evil Nine is fun.

I havent seen too many flash apps...so I really cant say there.

I always dug the style of homeostatic (http://www.homeostatic.net/checkpoint.html), really renewing I recogn.
Also sites like mattewmahon (http://www.matthewmahon.com/) and leoburnett (http://www.leoburnett.ca/) really rock my world, just look at the way they've integrated video into their sites... While we're at it, fallon london (http://www.fallon.co.uk/) also has a nice site, I personally recogn the style is completely wrecked and miserable, but if you have a look at how the site works, well..go see for yourself I'd say..
For creativity grupow (http://www.grupow.com/circulo/) really gets a bonus. check out the interface
dontclickit (http://www.dontclick.it) is also very original, I think I'm gonna build my own home-made laser-only mouse without mousebuttons or scrollingreel ;)
Furthermore, loworks (http://www.loworks.org/) its whole idea of creating some kinda village with weird things and stuff is something I like, but I guess it's one of those you-like-it-or-you-don't thing, right?
Finally 24-7media (http://www.24-7media.de/) is awesome, if you look at the style especially... but not really topnotch flash-usage we've never seen before...

:) - Ruben

PS. If you like flashanimation like in evil9ine you should check out I love death (http://koti.mbnet.fi/reagan/lodger/ilove.html) and the jcb-song (http://www.jcbsong.co.uk/jcbvideo.asp), but I think that last one has already been posted here a few weeks ago.

Hey that looks good. Question; what's the whole cfm thing? I'm seeing it more and more these days, is it some kinda new serverside script or something?

 - Ruben

CyanBlue
11-18-2005, 09:04 PM
That'd be ColdFusion file extension... It's been out there for ages and it is surfacing more often thesedays... ;)

Ruben
11-18-2005, 09:14 PM
Ah, thanks. May I ask what the added value is of using coldfusion?

- Ruben

tg
11-18-2005, 09:40 PM
same value you get from php/asp etc.... its very integrated with flash, and flash remoting, seeing as its a macromedia product also. its tag based (like html), and really easy to learn.

and its really the first server side scripting language(well, maybe not before perl/cgi).

CyanBlue
11-18-2005, 09:40 PM
Um... Honestly, I do not know... I have tried to use it for some projects and I even been to some classes for CF but I did not find it very attractive... So, you are asking to the wrong person... ;)

So, you want to hijack this thread as well??? :p

tg
11-18-2005, 09:43 PM
also, the engine that runs coldfusion on the server is build using java, so its fairly easy to right stuff to interact with existing java(not javascript) code.

Cota
11-18-2005, 10:11 PM
This thread isnt being hijacked, just shedding light on the question you asked...damn, I should have been a lawyer...

Ruben
11-18-2005, 11:11 PM
Yeah sorry CB, I just gotta know; are there any cons to using coldfusion? ...and that'd be my last question and I'll start contributing to this thread again instead of asking newbie-questions about coldfusion

;) - Ruben

PS. Hey cota, can I call you if they ever catch me for selling alcohol to minors? :D

CyanBlue
11-18-2005, 11:15 PM
Well... There is one con that I can think of... CFM requires ColdFusion server as it does with all other server side scripts and ColdFusion server costs abit more than PHP hosting for example... But ColdFusion is fairly widely used in the business applications and the CF programmers make good $$$... ;)

Okay, thanks tg and cyanblue. As promised I'll give you guys some more to chew on; what do you think of comcastic (http://www.comcastic.com/)? Pretty inventive right?

Alright, time for another link, we gotta keep this lady moving because it'd be a terrible waste if this would end up in another sensefull and highly intelligent conversation between cota and me...

I'll give the good example by dropkicking the lady's faint (http://www.dropkickthefaint.com/)

Thats funny cause I dont drink. Here's the story to that night. I've been sober since I had my first kid, almost 7 years. I was working on a database/VB network application all day. My sister was throwing a going away party for a friend of ours. The woman said I had been working to hard and demanded I go to that party. So that picture was taken after about 8 hours of sitting in front of my PC, which is as good as drinking. I know, its sad.

Ruben

Me to actually, the old one seemed cleaner and easier and nicer
to navigate, the new one, even with all its features feels too
cluttered and harder to get around.
