Loading External Images and Text at the Same Time

I am wondering if it is possible to use a spreadsheet to control which images and text are displayed within flash. For example:

An excel spreadsheet has a column for the text and a column for the image filename. The Flash file reads this spreadsheet and loads the text column into a dynamic text box, then reads the file name in the image column and loads a .jpg image with the same file name.

Is this possible? If so, what format does the excel spreadsheet need to be exported for Flash to read it?
