retrieving and sending data to XML files

Hi everyone,

I have a question which is probably very basic, but I'd love to hear the answer.

Can we use Flash for retrieving and sending data to XML files, without using a server?

ie can it be done all on just a desktop computer that isn't formatted as a server? (e.g. perhaps a CD-ROM based flash exe file for distribution to other home computers)

You have two options...

#1. Shared Object for saving a cookie like data into the client's computer...
#2. Use third party projector tool such as Zinc or SWF Studio to write a file on the user's computer...

The bottom line is that this question has been asked many times, so you might want to search around for more information... :)

good news is I'm already using Zinc (it's fantastic!) and I did come accross shared objects and cookies in my research. I just wanted to be sure that I am coming up with suitable answers.
