The Brief:
An interactive exhibit that shows people chocolate statues of themselves
The Setup:
The interactive will in run real-time using two video inputs. Motion tracking software will sense when a person steps in front of one of the two cameras. An audio track will then instruct the person to pose for a photo in front of the bright white screen. The image of the person will be projected in front of them, while the image manipulation magic is taking place. A liquid chocolate transition will rush across the screen, leaving a solid chocolate looking replica in place of the photo. The resulting chocolate person will then get added to a gallery of previous visitors.
The Challenge:
The challenge is to take a face-on photograph of an ordinary person (480x640px) & turn them to chocolate. The lighting environment will be controlled and the hardware can be tailored to fit the solution. Skin tone will be a factor to consider, as will the size of the person (wheelchair users included). Ideally, the result should like this: http://images.km.ru/rock/eltonjohn_chocolate.jpg
We have most of the interactive under control, but the chocolate person is proving tricky. We need to show our client a proof of concept soon - so we are looking for anyone with the skill to produce the desired effect.
If you can crack this problem, please upload a jpeg of your results to this thread (don't upload the source code unless you want to do this for free ;) ).
Also please post any questions, queries, ideas etc...
