Has anyone here setup or run an intranet for the company they work for?

I'll shortly be setting up an intranet for the company I work for am looking for suggestions and/or some useful software to consider.

Any useful information you guys can provide me with would be much appreciated.

We use lotus notes to run ours but i'm not sure if i can reccomend it.

I run a home intranet because I have lots of friends without Internet connections who regularly need to link up and download updates and the like. I used a simple tutorial and the Networking components built into Windows to setup the network and to share Inet access.
