Hey Guys,

I'm suprised this hasn't been asked before. I looking to find a free online virus scanner--one that is reliable and will not steal personal information. Is there such a thing? Should I even trust "them" if I find one?

I picked up 4 trojans last night. McAfee caugth them, but it is always nice to get a second opinion. Perhaps I should download a free virus scanner and run that too, but I thought that McAfee and "Personal AntiAv" (I think) might cause conflicts.

Thanks.
FG

a lot of free email clients have virus checkers for attachments. An easy, simple solution for a file might be to run it through that.

But do you know if these sites collect personal information? I'm am very worried about that.

Thanks senocular, but I need my whole hard drive scanned.

Thanks finchou,
FG

you want an online virus scanner to check your whole hard drive?

Why dont you just a different scanner like MS's free deal or avast?

I didn't know if they would cause conflicts. I use this: http://www.free-av.com/ on my other computers. It seems to be pretty good. but I don't want conflicts.

it would make me EXTREMELY paranoid (more than i already am) to submit my harddrives to be scanned by anyone i do not know. i just couldn't do it. even with my tinfoil hat on.
try avg or another free av software and run it in conjunction to mcaffee.
