Hello everybody...
I was thinking the useful that has been AS.org to me... an invaluable tool for learning and contacting guru masters, just like CyanBlue :) ... AS.org has everything about flash and even a lot of fun... so I was thinking in promote a place inside the site where all that people just like me will be able to make donations (useful for site maintence, a birthday cake for the moderators :D ... or I donīt know....
What do you think?
Of course, donīt expect a million, but maybe some bucks from time to time...;)

Hahahaha, add banners are a good way to raise money, especially because I can imagine how much traffic AS.org would get.

Yeah... Clicking on the ads will be the best way to support the forum... Of course, it is not such a bad idea to have a donation link at the bottom of the forum... You never know... :)

I like the ads when they come up in Japaneese. I think they say something about getting a larger man size.......

Actually randomly clicking ads probably doesn't help. For two reasons:
1. Google don't announce the method they use for assigning payment, but most best-guesses put it on a Pay Per Lead basis, which means we only get money when people buy something, etc. Plus it’s against the rules for me to promote such things! :)
2. If you're particularly grateful to a certain member (even if they're a moderator) they won't benefit from advertising revenues; they come to us to manage the site’s expenses.
I suggest that if you feel an obligation to do so, perhaps contact the member and offer them a few dollars via PayPal. I've had a few people 'buy me a beer' in that manner. Always nice.
As for donations to the site in general, we used to take them but as a model it didn't really work, and now that we're a lot bigger we don't need them -- at present, fingers crossed it doesn't change -- to subsidize the site. Advertising does that, for the time being at least. I mean, if everyone donated a dollar it would be a fortune and me or Strok could take a few months off an work full time on the site. . . but realistically it doesn’t work that way!
All that clicking for nothing...

Adsense works through both clickthroughs and impressions. Clicking cant hurt.

Well... Advertisers pay for the clickthroughs whether the visitor buys the product or not... I guess that's different when you are hosting an ads... Hm...
The way I see it, clicking many times and no buy could actually hurt in a long run... For example, the 'guy' who I work with sometimes take out the abc.com out of the roaster because he thinks that there is some sort of fake click involved with that site... That's what the high clickthrough and low conversion rate tells him at least...
