Likewise - I put the machine I use most at work (1280x1024), but my other machines here and at home would be 1024x768. When you get to 1024x768 there is no point in increasing the size of a site in my opinion.

Lucky me, I have one of those ancient 21" monitors from back in the budding days of high-resolution graphics... what's that, a decade ago? Anyway, the thing weighs almost as much as my name. It's cool, too... cuz it has "LOW RADIATION" on the front. That's great. Low radiation. As opposed to... what? Neutron Bomb? And what's this third eye growing out of the back of my head?

Anyhoo, I'm a laptop user. Anything more than 1024x768 is strains my beady little astigmatic eyes. I think that this is really the size-of-choice for the vast majority of users. 800x600 would come a close second... and that's only because people have monitors that are too small OR they are too inept to know how to change resolution.

for general use, surfing, homework and quick flash bits (spelling mainly) i use 800X600 for a proper session on flash i use 1024X768 which is a little cramped on my iMac screen. my powerbook duo is at the huge resolution of 640X400 (16 greys) pure class.

I got a 17" Flatron so 1024x768 stops me going blind.
*cough* for those of you interested, this is my 5000th post!!! *cough*

1024x768...but yeah, most people just don't know that they CAN change their resolution.

People just don't know enough. Or, maybe I'm being to hard on them. I guess I shouldn't taint their experience with my hard, cold, irrefutable logic.

I work at 1600x1200 on a 22" Mitsubishi DiamondPro 2040u. I check my uploaded work on a 15" Sony Trinitron at 1152x864 (yeah I know it's odd, but that's my 'sweet' spot) that I resize down to 800x600 and different vid bitrates.

The other system (with the Sony) I also keep loaded with IE 6, Opera 5, NS 4.75 for testing with other browsers.

Congrats on #5000, Jesse :)
