I have seen elastic drop-down menus on a few sites, like http://www.lookandfeel.com. Being relatively new to actionscript i was wanting to know how they are made. Thanks

One post and you aready have an avatar? Too hip. Anyway...

I made a file to show how to achieve the elastic/bouncy effect.

You can look at the finished file here: http://pixelwit.com/temp/Bouncy.html

You can download the source file here:

Hope it helps,

Thanks PixelWit, that was incredibly helpful. I just wanted to know what the posStep variable controls?
thanks.

"posStep" is where all the math happens that is responsible for the bouncy effect. I added a few comments to the Zip file on my site, maybe it will clarify a few things.

Hope it helps,

I don't have an avatar. I am unhip. You have an avatar. You are therefore hip. Quite logical really. :)

It helps tonnes mate... But I am trying to find a way to drag the bouncy stuff around.. i am working on a very cartoony site so this kind of thing would lend itself perfectly to that. i followed one of the links above to 101-bit.com and am currently poring over the tutorials from there... action-script don't come naturally to me!!
Again, thanks for all your help
