anyone else getting emails saying that "so and so has replied to a thread" but when you follow the link you can't see so and so's post?
Happening a lot for me....

...and me. Even repeated refreshing doesn't make it appear sometimes too, tend to have to go out to the main forum menu, then find the thread again using the index. Most odd. Doesn't happen all the time though, bit random really.
Often I get 2 email notifications for the same post too.
Also, I've subscribed to the chat engine forum but don't get any email notifications regarding new threads in that discussion. very infuriating!
Anyhow, it's not just you Billy!

This is prolly because at certain times of day we have so manyg people connected that the mySQL Db can't hack it and drops the connections. If you're unlucky that could happen when so and so is replying and as a result the notification is sent out but the user who posts is told to post again because their post didn't work.
This problem should occur less often in March because we're changing up the banners and that will result in less load on the mySQL server. Keep in mind, 50,000 page views each day = lots of mySQL queries :)

Yeah, thought I was actually going crazy a bit faster than I already know...I have been getting like 5/7 notices from the same post...but not the so and so scenario...Hmmmnnn.... 50,000 a day..that's a lot of queries....!!

Yeah I kinda guessed that the repeated email issue might be just cos it's so busy (hoorah!) but any ideas as to why I'm not getting any notification if a post is added to the chatroom forum?
cheers

ps, Do you not know so and so Pengie? Shame, he's a nice guy, always answers any posts on this and that, very polite and knowledgeable he is too.

I think he's related to "what's-his-name".

I think "what's-his-name" was just a friend of "so and so's", maybe you're thinking of "that guy with the thing".

No, no - What's-his-name is You-know-Who's brother. From the whacha-call-em clan. The ones that always do this or that, yada-yada-yada and whatever.

No apparently the delays are being caused by our Mail Server which takes a while to send an email. Notice you get the same delays when trying to submit comments via the About Us form. We're working to fix that.
