if you could just direct me to a good preloader that will work in flash MX - not MX 2004.

I have a large fla (with several large png files in it) and I really want it to load fully before anything plays...so the intro animation will play smoothly.

I have included the preloader file..try sticking some large images in and see if it preloads correctly.

Upon playing...the bar does not animate...It just immediatly says 100% but it is not playing smooth (the animation that is) so I dont think the preloader is fully working.

Is there a better solution or is this pretty much it?

i deleted my previous msg 'cuz i thought you where trying to load the PNG files using loadMovie()... anywho, your file goes straight to 100 because your file is 2KB how about trying to actually put something on your stage to test your preloader

take a look at the tutorial at www.gotoandlearn.com and it has a simple loader that you can use.

I did but the fla was way to big to upload. I had a whole bunch of stuff there but the fla was 11 meg - even uploaded it and tryed it. I dont know, this preloader just doesnt seem to work that great and Im wondering if there is one for flash mx, or 2004 pro is ok too I guess as I have access to either program...just looking for some other options.

the preloader works fine, i placed a jpg file inside the FLA, ran a test and it went from 0 to 100

thanks jemayes, I looked at that one but the code seems to be pretty much the same as the one I have - a simpler variation of it...this is the most common one I see so I guess it is the recommended one.

I was looking for more smooth behavior and to show the loader actually grow from 0-100% - ya know where you actually see every number and watch the bar grow to 100%...but I have a good idea now to use this preloader without the textbox and bar (maybe just off stage) and then when it is finished I can have it go to a simple mc (the first one of the file i guess) which can show an animation of the bar and numbers...I wonder if thats how these fancy sites do it? Anyways it sparked an idea.
