I have trouble optimizing my flash files. It does not matter if I choose 10% or 100% jpg quality, the filesize is the same at both.

Does anyone know what may cause the problem?

Thanx

Its the jpg quality of the jpg thats the cause of the big size, I believe. Edit it in a program such as photoshop of fireworks.

I thought flash would optimize the file for me.
I import hi quality jpgs into flash so that flash wont optimize my allready optimized pics.

But why doesnt the flesize reduce?

It should optimise the files for you when it exports to swf. It's best to crop the pics to the size you want them before importing into Flash (or using the update image feature to mess with the pic in another program and then update it to the latest version) but Flash does optimise them.

Anyhow, you changing the quality should make a difference.

Where are you changing the quality? - in the library by right clicking on the jpg symbol and selecting properties, or in the publish settings menu?

Is it possible the library selection is still set to "use imported jpeg data" and is overiding the setting you choose when you export?

Just a thought.
