Uhm does anybody have experience with that? I'm trying to find out how far I can go with interactivity... does anyone know of any documented problems. I did a search and couldn't find anything.

I'll also hit the MacroMedia site and see if they have anything.

ps i don't want to hear what a stupid idea this ... i know that it's stupid, (Red, I"M WATCHING YOU!)

have you run into any problems? you can embed flash into power point.
in powerpoint goto insert>object and select flash movie.
far as i know, ms products look at stuff like the flash player as an activeX control, so you should be able to use the version of the player you have on your box. of course the problem exists as with other flash stuff that any box that views the movie needs the same player or newer.

Hey, the only problem that I had that u should have a full control of it, I mean like ppt. If u wannt repeat the show or go back one frame .... ooops it's outt control. So u should prepare it to run most like power point

Vile we've done a fair bit of Flash in P.. p.. (cough) er P.. oh Dont make me say the P word PLEEEZ!!

Anyway TG is right with the ActiveX bit and the only thing we've found is that things do go a little wacky if you try and step back a slide after viewing an embedded Flash.

Remember at the end of the day... Its still PP.

Yeah. it's PP but better than trying to edit a hundred slide presentation in FLASH we've decided just to throw in a few "OOOWEEELOOKATTHATS!!" My one concern is key strokes as forward commands. I don't want to have to mouse over and click through the flash segment. As long as I avoid the key commands specific to Power Point i'm hoping I'll be all right...

Thanks for the input and if anybody knows about key command problems let me know...also does the file need to be an exe to embed? or an .swf?

Hey Vile

This must be a SWF to work, *.exe won't even be embeded. Also u can assign the arrows keys to go forword and backword in flash but u mast take care of:

- In the flash embeded slides in PP u have to click on the swf movie to activate it

- there must be an area on the slides that have the embeded swf to reactivate it - with a mouse click - after the swf ends

-------------------------------------------------
For the mac I think that won't be a different story

hey Vile, check this!!!

http://www.flashgeek.com/tutorials/index.htm

if you use the pp just to show the flash stuff it have to work well in Mac, but if yo have some interactions...

...some time ago, i was in the same dilema, i ended up spending two days and nights translating every thing to flash, is a pain in the ...

(and this is a frecuent task in my job as most clients are ignorants and try to use pp for everything, even for press design!!!)

...maybe you can do it in parts...flash starts, then, when nedded, flash launches pp...etc...

Good luck!!!

Well actually I got it working relatively well but not exactly like I thought it would work. Rather than embedding the file into the PP i created an "action button" that launched a projector...not perfectly seemless but pretty good...

a special shoutout to pink and red who watched me embarass the hell out of myself in TheChatRoom on this project. I was freaking out completely over a problem with the flash portion and of course it was the classic "That's not an MC, it's a graphic" problem...i'm such an ass.

Aw poor Vile - you know I'm still have a stitch from laughing so much! *wink*
Nah, if it makes you feel any better I'm tearing my hair out over here, I finished a Flash game that needs to be done today yesterday afternoon and it worked just fine, now did I leave it alone? No, did I hell! I fiddled didn't I! Damnit. So now it's not working consistently and I haven't got a clue what I've done to it - arghhh!
Sometimes I am getting a script is running too slow error - but sometimes I'm not - pants pants pants.
So there you go, you can get your own back and laugh at me now!
