Hello, I have a program that has a particle engine and I can created a series of .bmps that make up an explosion with a black background.

How could I import this into flash, so that it would take a small filesize and the black background would be transparent?

Otherwise, if it isn't possible, how do game makers make up explosions in their games?

Thanks!

This won't answer your question on how to import the explosion into Flash, but it will give you an idea as to how game developers do it.

Since you are rendering an explosion animation to a series of .bmps. You are basically creating a sprite type animation. To make the black background transparent a programmer usually defines an alpha color, in this case black or Red, Green, Blue (0,0,0).This alpha color is not drawn by the graphics engine so only the explosion would be drawn to the screen when the different frames of the animation play.

Can that be done in Flash? I have no idea I am just starting to pick it up myself.
