Hi Folks,

Quick question, hopefully this is in the right forum and i am not posting offtopic. Anyway, why does Adobe/Macromedia not produce a standalone FLV player? This puzzles me as I think this is an issue when it comes to FLV making headway as a good video format. I have just produced around 30 Flash 8 FLV (VP6) files to be used in an application but I want the videos to be added to a repository for other users to download and view themselves without having to download an swf file as well to view it. I know there are 3rd party standalone players available but it beats me why macromedia did not create one? Were they wanting uptake of their file format by other non-proprietry players? I am also looking for a mac/OSX standalone player for flash 8 FLV's, any out there?

Cheers
Steve

Hi:

I made standalone flv player using MDM Zinc. It works great on MAC and PC. Its made for my needs but If you want it customized, just let me know.

for it to woork, yu wuld have to make a folder called "media" and place an flv file called "50.flv" in it.

Thefolder and the player should be in the same directory. You can download the player from here:
