Hoping someone can help me out
I have an html page with swfs embedded into it.
I have a button in this page which "shows" a div layer.
But, embedded in this page is a swf that is poking "through" the div layer.
How can I prevent this from happening???
Any ideas? fixes/
Thanks!

What's in the division?
And while we're at it, are the .swfs embedded in the html, set to be transparent (wmode)?

The div that becomes "show" has just html text on it.
The html page that houses the swfs (not in transparent mode)
Can you tell me where you are heading with your insight.
Will the embedded swfs, in transparent mode, stop the div from being run-through by the swf?
Thx

If I follow you correctly, yes if the .swfs are transparent, it might work.
Otherwise post a link to this, so I can see what's happening.

Hey oldnewbie
Thanks for the reply
I will try it and see if transparency helps.
But, it just doesnt make sense.
I have other instances (other pages) where this same div layer (show state) is not being interfered with by the swfs embedded in the html

I have to reconstitute it.
Will have it ready shortly.

Well, for the sake of getting the example to you asap....
Here is the site (http://www.tentoe.com) in question, but the problem layer has been removed from the index.htm page.
In subsequent pages, the Downloads tab that appears in the top flash movie toward the end, spawns the downloads layer.
Anyway, on the homepage this same tab would spawn the downloads layer, but the scrolling thumbnails swf would peek right through the layer.
I hope this makes some sense.

You mean the homepage_gallery.swf? Was that one ever set to be transparent?

No, that homepage_gallery.swf has no need to be transparent.
Check this out:
Example (http://www.tentoe.com/Tentoe/corpweb/deliver_delivery.htm)
If you hit the downloads tab, then tap around on the shown layer, the flash below will come through the layer....
How do I avoid this??
(It is the same principle as the homepage deal, but at least you can see this one)
Again... thanks for you input.

Okay, I took the wmode transparent advice.
It works very well... but not in Safari on a mac. :-(
I wonder if there is any other way to acheive this opaque layer over flash movie that will be more stable with better cross platform/multiple browser capability??
Thanks!

Don't think so! That's why I suggested that, and that only... ;)
