SPAM report thread (also known as the great die-spam-die thread)
Lately I've been getting more and more fed up with the spammers at the boards here, like this one, I mean, come on, get a life..

Anyway, I thought it to be a good idea to have a thread in which spam can be reported. This way, if one of the mods would be so kind to subscribe to this thread they could delete the threads or posts, if they think it necessary..

So unless somebody objects to this proposal I'd like to hereby start this initiative.. What do you guys think?

That sounds good, make it easier to deal with.

Yeah great idea. For things which sound like they might have a legitimate press release, when deleting the thread perhaps quote the reason:

Press releases should be lodged via the press section. Contact site admins for more information.
Or something like that.

Some prolly break the rules because they don't bother to find out the right way to publicize legitimate events.

Thanks.. I guess there should be made a few things clear, so let's lay down some rules:

Please don't be too judgemental as to what perhaps might be, and what most obviously and clearly is spam. Bear in mind that when you point to a thread and say "spam" the user that started it will be marked, this is not a witch-hunt so (can't stress this part enough) please be careful and make sure you are, in fact, sure..

When you do find a thread that sounds (as jesse put it) like it's a legitimate press release, please post the URL of the thread in this topic so admins/mods can have a look at it and decide whether or not they find it suitable to delete posts or threads in whole.. Alongside you might want to tell why you reckon the thread in question is spam.
If you feel like it you can also post this in the particular thread:

Press releases should be lodged via the press section. Contact site admins for more information. This thread will be regarded as spam and will (hopefully) be deleted.

more info
..and if you're absolutely sure it's real spam (as in, users posting the same post in one thread 3 or more times), then perhaps it's a good idea to post a link to the user's profile too..

JonJon310 apparently likes to post the exact same text in his own thread 4 times.

I normally try to merge the crossposts so that the person who crosspost know what happens if they ever do and that thread have gotten the same treatment, I think...
(For that matter, let's post the links to the crossposts in this thread as well so that we can either delete unnecessary posts or merge them if needed... ;))

If you think that the thread require immediate attention, 'Report Bad Post' link would do the job better because we get the email notification immediately as well... Either way, it is a good idea, Ruben... ;)

The one that has been killing me is the FLV converter spam people (such as Cool Jim) among others. I spent count hours reading out FLV conveter before I went out to make a major purchase. After about 3 hours of reading, I reliazed that is was just cleaverly place spam.

FG, you could find the thread and post the URL here so mods could do something about it..

Actually, the only time Cool Jim posts it is promoting his product, that is why I just linked to his profile. I consider all of his post spam (but that is just my humble opinion.)

Oh that guy, I wish somebody would ban him:

All he ever does is post about this geovid-tool..
